Dare Valley Railway

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dare Valley Railway was a British railway company based in Rhondda Cynon Taf in Wales in England.

The company received on the operation of the Taff Vale Railway on July 21, 1863 the concession to build a 5.6 kilometer branch line into the valley of the Dare. The line branched off from the TVR line in Aberdare and opened up the slate quarries at the end of the valley.

The route was operated from the beginning by the Taff Vale Railway. On January 1, 1871, she leased the line and took it over on August 26, 1889. From 1906 until it was closed in September 1924, locomotives with internal combustion engines were used.
