Darkwood Dub

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Darkwood Dub is an electronica group founded in Belgrade in 1988 , which originally included Dejan Vučetić, the lead singer and lyricist, guitarist Vladimir "Vlidi" Jerić and Milorad "Miki" Ristić as bassist. Guitarist Bojan "Bambi" Drobac and Lav Bratuša on percussion joined the group in the early 90s.

Darkwood Dub's music is characterized by smooth bass lines, a mix of drums and electronic drum computers, and outstanding synthesizers.

In their early days, Darkwood Dub experimented with reggae beats, but as a result they turned more and more to a distinctive blend of trip-hop and rock . The intense lyrics are consistently trademarks of the band.

In 1996 they were almost unanimously voted the best Yugoslav music group by the music press in Serbia-Montenegro. The group, published and sponsored by Radio B92 , was one of the most important musical supporters of Otpor and the overthrow of the Milošević regime in 2000. Today they are the most important indie band in Serbia with a large following in the Yugoslav diaspora.
