Intestinal sorting devices

Casing sorting devices are used to check and sort natural casings for their diameter (“caliber”) so that they can be used, for example, as a sausage casing .

For this purpose, the intestine is first filled with water using a sorting tap. Then its caliber is determined with a gauge , the intestinal measuring block. At the end, the casing is shortened to the specified length with a casing cutter and ends that cannot be used are cut off.

The process is used for natural casings from sheep and pigs.
