Darrel Moellendorf

Darrel Frank Moellendorf is a political philosopher with a focus on climate justice. He is professor for international political theory and philosophy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . His work focuses on the areas of climate change and justice, the normative meaning of the Anthropocene, and the philosophy of hope

Life

In 1983 Moellendorf completed a bachelor's degree in "Liberal Arts" at St. John's College . This was followed by a master's and doctoral degree in philosophy at the Claremont Graduate School , which he completed in 1985 and 1990 respectively. He was a lecturer in philosophy at Riverside Community College, then an assistant professor at California State Polytechnic University. After positions at the University of Witwatersrand and as founding director at the "Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs" at San Diego State University, Moellendorf accepted the professorship for international political theory and philosophy at Goethe University Frankfurt. From 2008 to 2009 he was also a member of the School of Social Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University.

Act

Moellendorf primarily researches questions of global justice. In his work, among other things, he looks at climate change from the perspective of global justice . He also deals with the normative meaning of the Anthropocene .
