Darren Lockyer (born March 24, 1977 in Brisbane ) is an Australian rugby league player and captain of the Australian national rugby league team, the Queensland State of Origin team and his NRL team, the Brisbane Broncos .

Lockyer is considered to be one of the best rugby league players of all time. He has held the record for most appearances since 2009 and most attempts in the Australian National Rugby League team since 2010 .

Lockyer has played in the connection half position since 2004 . He had previously played in the goalkeeper 's position. With his NRL team, the Brisbane Broncos, he holds the record for most appearances and most attempts.

Lockyer is one of two rugby players to win the Golden Boot twice , an award that annually honors the best player in the world.
