The epic of Abdurrahman , also briefly Abdurrahman or Abdurrahmani is an epic that was written in Swahili . It is believed that the author was a slave who lived on the island of Godfather .

The subject matter of the epic is taken from Arabic literature. The epic consists of a total of 654 verses. The first 25 verses form an introduction in which God is praised, praised and asked for his blessing for the work. The main part describes the conversion of Sheikh Abdurrahman to Islam . A Koran claim is inserted after verse 93. The conclusion is formed by 16 verses which, after further praising God, also ask for Muhammad's intercession for the author of the epic, as well as for her relatives and the readers.

The epic consists of four lines of verse. Each line has eight syllables. The last lines of a verse rhyme with one another throughout the entire epic, while the three opening lines of a verse each rhyme directly with one another.
