history

Building Königsplatz 21: The first owner was Friedrich Linck (around 1300). In 1529 it was rebuilt as the "Oberamtshaus" for the respective margravial chief magistrate. In 1660, after the Thirty Years' War , a new building had to be built; only the cellar remained of the original building. A huge half-timbered house was built on the stone plinth of the basement, which today still stands on the corner of Königsplatz and Rathausgasse.

A stone tablet, formerly in the inner courtyard, attached to the east side of the house before 1900, reports: “Anno Christi 1660, under the reign of the most noble high-born prince and lord, Albrecht, Margrave of Brandenburg, Magdeburg, Prussia, Stettin, Pomerania, the Cassuben and Wenden, also in Silesia, to Crossen and Jägerndorf, Duke, Burgrave of Nuremberg, Princes of Halberstadt and Münden, this house was completely rebuilt ” . The entire complex had become the official residence of the chief bailiff, with enough space for servants and horses. In addition, a "table room" was set up for the margrave above the passage to the courtyard, which in 1768 expanded the courtyard by the width of the gallery. From 1685 the building was used as a tapestry (wallpaper knitting ).

Hüttlinger company

The complex was given the name Hüttlinger by the last previous owner in the newly built industrial section of the building in Rathausgasse and the adjacent southern Mauerstrasse, the Joh. Leonh company. Hüttlinger, who was based here until a few years ago.

The Hüttlinger company has been manufacturing Leonean goods and iron wires in Roth since 1778 . The founder was Johann Leonhard Hüttlinger (1752–1822) from Schwabach. This company was relocated to the building on Rathausgasse in Schwabach in 1852. In 1981 the company “Joh. Leonh. Hüttlinger, Draht- und Federnfabrik ”from Fritz Hüttlinger to the last owner Hans Leo Hüttlinger. After the economic decline of the company in the 1990s, the production buildings stood empty for a long time.

On the initiative of private investors, the building complex was extensively renovated in 2007 and reopened as a shopping, residential and catering center.
