Datatrak

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Datatrak was a conventional, hyperbolic radio navigation system operated in the long wave range at frequencies between 130  kHz and 150 kHz , similar to the Decca navigation system .

It was operated by Securicor Information Systems in Great Britain and Siemens-Datatrack in mainland Europe and was originally used by Securior to monitor parcel and security vehicles, but was later made available to other customers.

The receiver calculates its location from the radio signals and sends it back to the headquarters in Swindon , Great Britain, via UHF connections, which also transmits telemetry data . Datatrak was in operation in Austria, Germany, Great Britain and the Benelux countries from the 1980s to the first half of the 2010s. It was also implemented in non-European countries and in Argentina at least until 2014.
