Data services

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dateldienst (from Da ta Tel ecommunication) is an outdated collective term used by the German Federal Post Office for services that enable data communication beyond private property boundaries. These included Telex , Teletex , leased lines , Datex-L , Datex-P and data transmission using modems .

In most countries, the establishment of telecommunication routes across property boundaries was the right of a state telecommunications administration, in Germany at that time the Deutsche Bundespost. The data transmission routes were usually provided by this public telecommunications administration. The sovereignty of the telecommunications administration extended from interface to interface. The telecommunications ordinance had to be observed for all power paths made available by the telecommunications administration. The Deutsche Bundespost has published the relevant technical regulations in the "Datel-Dienst" brochures.

The data services should be combined in an integrated digital network. It was possible to connect devices that, like modems, require an analog dial-up connection, as well as devices with optional digital interfaces for the data transmission networks of the integrated text and data network (IDN) (interfaces X.21 and X.25 ), as well as for the ISDN .
