biography

Dave Hilton Junior comes from an English-speaking Jewish family in Canada. His father, Dave Hilton Sr., was also a boxer. This played 155 amateur and professional fights between 1956 and 1976, of which he won 138. He always wore a Star of David on his boxing pants . His sister Mary Ann was also Miss Canada. Dave Hilton juniors brother Matthew Hilton (37 fights; 32 wins) was the IBF world light middleweight boxing champion. His brothers Alex Hilton (48 fights; 37 wins) and Stewart Hilton (4 fights; 4 wins) were also professional boxers. However, the brothers were also known for their violations of the law, which resulted in several prison terms. Stewart Hilton died in 1986 with his girlfriend in a traffic accident that he caused. He hadn't been in possession of a driver's license. At the time, Alex Hilton was serving a prison sentence for alcohol offenses, dangerous threats and violating probation requirements.

Dave Hilton Jr. started boxing in 1981 and has long been overshadowed by his talented brother Matthew. He remained undefeated in 28 fights and also won against Mario Cusson (27-1), Sammy Horne (27-5) and Ron Amundsen (13-0). In October 1990 he finally lost to Alain Bonnamie (5-0), their rematch ended in a draw. In the third duel, Hilton finally won unanimously. He also boxed against Stephane Ouellet (25-1) three times in the course of his career, with two wins.

On December 15, 2000, he defeated the South African Dingaan Thobela (40-7) in Montreal and became WBC super middleweight champion. In May 2001, however, he was sentenced to several years imprisonment for the sexual abuse of his two daughters, with which he also lost his world title. Although he was released in 2006 and won a boxing match in May 2007, he was arrested again in August 2007 for assault and dangerous threats. After his release, he was arrested again in September 2010 for the same offenses.
