David Berlin

David Berlin (born January 23, 1943 in Pittsburgh ) is an American composer and music teacher.

Berlin studied at Carnegie Mellon University with Forrest Stanley (horn), Oleta Albertson Benn (music education) as well as Leonardo Balada , Nikolai Lopatnikoff , James Beale and Roland Leich (composition) and at West Virginia University with Gerald Lefkoff (music theory) and John Beall ( Composition) and taught music theory, composition, electroacoustic music and multimedia arts at the North Allegheny School District from 1965 to 1999 . He then gave courses at Carnegie-Mellon University . Since 1996, he has also taught in the Arts Education faculty of the Pennsylvania Governor's Institute . He developed content for the Partners in Distance Learning project and wrote papers on the training of music educators.

In addition to electroacoustic and multimedia works, Berlin composed chamber music, choral and orchestral works. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), the Society of Composers , the Music Educators National Conference, and a founding member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association . As a music teacher he received a. a. Awards from the Pennsylvania Council on the Art and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association , as a composer the Salop-Slates Award for chamber music, awards from the International Electronic Music Plus Festival , the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and others.
