David L. Jacobs

David L. Jacobs (born October 1, 1933 in Montreal , Canada ) is a retired Canadian skier. In 1978 he founded the ski textile company Spyder and is its managing director to this day.

Life

David Jacobs was a member of the Canadian National Ski Team before a broken career put an end to his career. He later became Canada's first full-time national ski coach. As a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology he missed functional ski outerwear, so in 1978 he began developing padded ski racing suits for his sons Jake and Bill under the name "Spyder".
