David Malone

David Gerald Malone (born September 18, 1977 in Dublin ) is a former Irish swimmer .

Career

Malone, who is amputated in both legs , competed at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing in the 100 meter backstroke discipline in the S8. Unlike the other five members of the Irish swim team, who were all participating in the Paralympic Games for the first time , this was Malone's fourth participation. In his competition on September 10th in the Water Cube , he reached fifth place. After this competition, Malone announced the end of his sporting career.

Malone can look back on a successful career in which he won three Paralympic medals, two silver and one gold, and was also able to place well at world championships.
