David McNally (political scientist)

David McNally (born July 1, 1953 ) is a Marxist- oriented, Canadian political scientist and professor at York University . He is also active as a political activist.

Life

McNally studied at Evergreen State College and at York University , where he also received his doctorate in 1983. Since then he has worked as a professor of political science.

His thematic focuses include political economy and materialistic theories of language and culture. He also writes and researches anti-capitalist social struggles.

McNally has also been a political activist since his youth. For many years he was a member of the International Socialists and later the New Socialist Group.

McNally is a father of several children and lives in Toronto .
