David Singmaster (2006)

David Breyer Singmaster (* 1939 in the USA ) is a Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at London South Bank University, England, UK.

Singmaster received his doctorate in number theory ( On Means of Differences of Consecutive Integers Relatively Prime to m ) under Derrick Henry Lehmer at the University of California, Berkeley , in 1966 .

He describes himself as a metagrobologist and is famous for solving the Rubik's Cube and his large personal collection of mechanical puzzles. He is also interested in the history of computer science .

In 1971 he made the Singmaster Conjecture .
