David Contra Goliath

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

David Contra Goliath (DaCG) is a municipal voter group in the Bavarian capital of Munich .

The association David against Goliath eV (DaGG) was founded in 1986 by the lawyer and journalist Bernhard Fricke as an anti-nuclear initiative in response to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster . Later the political priorities were expanded to include the promotion of solar energy .

In 1990, the association's affiliated group of voters David Contra Goliath was founded. In the 1990 local elections, David Contra Goliath and Fricke won a seat on the Munich city council . The organization also won one mandate in the 1994 and 1996 city council elections. From 1994 to 1996 Fricke played the role of a difficult ally to tip the scales in order to give the red-green city council coalition a majority. After losing his seat on the city council, David Contra Goliath is still occasionally represented (via lists) in Munich district committees. For example, Andreas Nagel, who was committed to better public transport in Munich, sat for David Contra Goliath on the Bogenhausen district committee for almost 23 years .
