Debenham Thouard Zadelhoff ( DTZ ) is a commercial real estate consultancy based in London . DTZ employs approximately 10,000 people in 148 cities and 43 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and North America. The parent company, DTZ Holdings plc. , has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1987 . In Germany the company is represented by its wholly owned subsidiary, "DTZ Deutschland Holding GmbH", and its operational unit, "DTZ Zadelhoff Tie Leung GmbH".

history

DTZ has its origins in 1784 with the founding of Cheshire Gibson in Birmingham, England. Another predecessor company, Debenham and Tewson , was founded in London in 1853. The merger of the two companies in 1913 resulted in Debenham, Tewson & Chinnocks . In 1987 the company went public on the London Stock Exchange . The DTZ brand emerged from the joint venture with Jean Thouard (France) and the Zadelhoff Group (Germany and the Netherlands). The merger with Bernard Thorpe from the United Kingdom followed in 1999 . In the same year, there was an exchange of shares with the Asian partners CY Leung & Co and Edmund Tie & Co . Since then, DTZ has had other companies such as Donaldsons LLP or JJ Barnicke Ltd. accepted. In Germany, the DTZ Group operates under the name of DTZ Deutschland Holding GmbH and its subsidiary DTZ Zadelhoff Tie Leung GmbH . In December 2011 the DTZ group was sold to the Australian UGL group for GBP 77.5 million . The company had previously been filed for bankruptcy.

On September 1, 2015, Cushman & Wakefield and Debenham Thouard Zadelhoff (DTZ) merged. The joint venture now operates under the Cushman & Wakefield brand and is majority owned by a group of investors led by TPG Capital , PAG Asia Capital and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.
