Decir
The decir (saying) is one of the fundamental literary genres of Spanish literature of the Middle Ages , along with the canción .
It is read or recited, and it is always narrative. His subjects are political, religious, satirical or reflect human love.

Formally, the Decir, like the Canción, can be written in an eight-syllable, regular and consonant rhyme (also called Arte Menor ) (" Decir Menor "), or in the so-called Arte Mayor , in verses of twelve syllables that are divided in the middle are (" Decir Mayor "). The Decir Mayor is provided with a fixed accent pattern, which makes it inflexible and makes deviations the rule. It can be seen that the eight-syllable variant enjoys greater popularity due to its wide stylistic freedom, while the Arte Mayor is mostly only used in intellectual circles.
An example of the Decir of the Arte Mayor is the Laberinto de Fortuna by Juan de Mena , for the eight-syllable Decir the Serranillas of the Marqués de Santillana .
