Erling Norvik (born April 9, 1928 in Vadsø , † December 31, 1998 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian politician of the conservative Høyre party and journalist .

Activity as a journalist

In the period from 1948 to 1981 he worked, with interruptions, in various positions as a journalist. For example, he was editor at Finnmark Tidende in 1948 and from 1953 to 1956 . In 1950 he worked as a journalist in the press department of his party.

Political career

Norvik was a member of Vadsø City Council from 1955 to 1959 . In the period between 1959 and 1963 he was then a member of the Hammerfest city ​​council . From 1961 to 1973 he was a member of the Norwegian Parliament, the Storing . He represented the province of Finnmark there . Between 1967 and 1971 he was a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee, from 1969 as deputy group chairman.

He was chairman of the conservative Høyre party from 1974 to 1980 and again from 1984 to 1986. From 1970 to 1972 he was deputy chairman. He was also general secretary of his party from 1971 to 1974. From October 1981 to August 1984 he was State Secretary in the State Chancellery, the Statsministerenskontor .

From 1986 to 1998 he was Fylkesmann in Østfold .
