Uplight

Uplight

A ceiling washlight is a room lamp that is mounted on a metal tube that protrudes upwards , similar to a floor lamp , and that emits indirect light through the ceiling.

In contrast to conventional floor lamps, the light cone emitted by the light source (e.g. halogen tubes , LEDs or incandescent lamps ) is not emitted downwards or to the side, but upwards towards the ceiling. This effect is achieved using a plate-shaped reflector that is open at the top . This is the basic form. There are hardly any design limits to the shape of these reflectors , which also applies to the design of the lamp itself. What all ceiling washers have in common, however, is that they emit indirect light downwards from the illuminated - that is, flooded with light - ceiling and thus have a positive effect on the room atmosphere. Many uplights are also equipped with a reading lamp mounted on the side.
