The Dedalus Prize for New Literature was founded in 1996 by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) . This literary prize , which was named after the main character Stephen Dedalus in the novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce , was awarded to German-speaking writers who, like Joyce, had created new forms of prose until 2004. The award was presented every two years and was accompanied by a grant of 10,000 euros from the SWR.
