Dedo de Dios (Finger of God) was a rock formation on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria near the fishing village of Puerto de las Nieves . It got its name from the Canarian writer Domingo Doreste , who was of the opinion that the approximately 30 meter high rock formation symbolized a hand with a finger raised to warn. Since then, the 'finger of God' has been a symbol of Gran Canaria. The Dedo de Dios was demolished on November 29, 2005 by the tropical storm "Delta".
