Definition of free cultural works
The definition of free cultural works is a definition of free content , initiated by Erik Möller .
history
The first draft of the definition of free cultural works was published on April 3, 2006. Richard Stallman , Lawrence Lessig , Angela Beesley and many more helped the project. Version 1.0 and 1.1 were published in English, but also translated into other languages.
The definition of free cultural works is used by the Wikimedia Foundation . In 2008 the “Attribution” and “Attribution-ShareAlike” licenses were marked as “Approved for free cultural works” by Creative Commons . After this step, Wikipedia migrated to multiple licensing, namely to the GNU Free Documentation License and the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike License .
