Dike needle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The dike needle is a tool that is used to create and repair dikes . It is a wooden handle about 60 cm long with a flat iron point with a blunt edge and a stamp-shaped head.

Dikes are covered with sod to protect against erosion . In order to keep the sod securely on the dike before they become firmly rooted in the ground, the dike is embroidered with thatch . To do this, thatch is spread out and fastened with straw or reed ropes laid across it and firmly pressed into the ground. The dike needle is used to push in.
