Deil (Heidmark)

Deil was a farm in Ostheidmark in the old district of Fallingbostel in Lower Saxony . Hof Deil belonged to the municipality of Bockhorn and with 632 acres was the largest property there.

The settlement is mentioned several times in the Walsroder document book, in 1237 for the first time as "Derenlige" . We are talking about several goods (farms). The so-called "Wüsthof" was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War . Heath farmers lived in Deil . Her main occupation was the heather sheep keeping until the 19th century . In 1917 a fire destroyed the house and the pigsty. In 1922 the buildings were rebuilt in the new style. The last owners sold wood, but did not escape bankruptcy . In the course of the construction of the Bergen military training area , most of the property was incorporated into the training area. The courtyard was incorporated into the nearby Oerbke barracks , and the buildings were then used as the officers' mess.
