Declaration of Lesbos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Declaration of Lesvos is a statement by the European Committee on Radiation Risk (ECRR), an anti-nuclear scientific critic group. This declaration was made on May 6, 2009 in the town of Mithymna on the Greek island of Lesbos .

The signatories declare that the risk model of the International Commission on Radiation Protection (ICRP) is out of date, that calculations based on the ICRP model have errors of 10 times and more and that its use leads to high radiation risks. The ICRP model and recommendations of the ICRP are used by many governments to estimate the risk of radiation levels and to set limit values, e.g. B. in the European Union .

The declaration also includes further statements and requirements relating to radiation risks. Among other things, the signatories of the declaration demand a human right to information about the amounts of radiation one is exposed to and the consequences that may arise from it.
