Although he was a modern architect by training (he wrote a dissertation on Alvar Aalto ), Porphyrios advocates historicist architecture in the tradition of the old master builders. His buildings can be assigned to neo-Gothic and neoclassicism , and in terms of material selection and design language are very strictly based on historical buildings, for which he was awarded the Driehaus Architecture Prize .

He worked on publications with the post-modern architect Léon Krier .

His projects are mainly in Greece and the United Kingdom. In Germany he built in Berlin and Frankfurt (Hotel Villa Kennedy ).
