Democracia i Llibertat ( Catalan for, democracy and freedom ') was an existing 2016 Community candidacy under which the Catalan nationalist parties Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC), Démocrates de Catalunya and Regrupament Independista to the Spanish parliamentary elections on 20 December 2015 competed . The member parties advocated independence for the region of Catalonia from Spain.

The two bourgeois Catalan parties CDC and UDC had run joint elections since 1979 under the name CiU . This party alliance broke up in June 2015 due to differing views on the question of the relationship between Catalonia and the Spanish state.

In the election for the Catalan regional parliament on September 27, 2015 , the UDC then ran alone, the CDC together with the left ERC in the Junts pel Sí alliance .

This electoral alliance was not reissued for the election to the Spanish parliament on December 20, 2015. Rather, the CDC formed the Democràcia i Llibertat (DL) alliance together with the Demòcrates de Catalunya party (split from the UDC) and the small Reagrupament Independista party (which had stood together with the ERC in the previous election in 2011 ).

Democràcia i Llibertat only ran for elections in Catalonia. The electoral alliance received 15% of the votes there (which corresponds to 2.25% in relation to the overall Spanish result) and eight seats.
