Democratic Party of Lesotho

The Democratic Party of Lesotho (DPL; German for example: "Democratic Party of Lesotho") is a party in Lesotho . It was founded in 2016 as a split from the Basotho National Party (BNP) and has been represented by a member of the National Assembly since the elections in June 2017 .

history

The DPL was founded in May 2016 by Limpho Justice Tau, who was previously the BNP chairperson in the constituency of Teyateyaneng . According to Tau, the BNP had lost touch with the base. In the early elections in June 2017, the DPL won a seat with 0.48% of the vote via proportional representation , which Tau took.

Structure and program

At the top is the party chairman, Limpho Justice Tau. The aim is improved economic development, combined with democratic structures.

The party color is pink. The party's flag is pink with two diagonal stripes in dark blue and green. At the top left there is an emblem made of two crossing keys. At the founding meetings in the districts, party members and supporters wore pink T-shirts with emblems.
