Democratic lawyers in Switzerland

The Democratic Jurists (DJS, French Juristes Démocrates de Suisse , Italian Guristi e Guriste Democratici Svizzeri ) are an association of left-wing lawyers in Switzerland. The association was founded on November 11, 1978 as a merger of the existing associations in the regions of Basel, Bern, Geneva, Vaud and Zurich. The Neuchâtel (1984) and Lucerne (1993) sections were added later. The association is particularly committed to strengthening and maintaining the rule of law and fundamental rights . He is a member of the EJDM and co-editor of the legal journal plädoyer .

The DJS regularly participate in political events at the federal level and in the cantons, in particular through lobbying and consultations . In September 2009, the Zurich Cantonal Section obtained the repeal or modification of individual provisions of the Zurich Police Act before the federal court .
