Democratic Party of National Revival

The Democratic Party of National Revival (Uzbek: Oʻzbekiston Milliy Tiklanish Demokratie Partiyasi , short: OMTDP or OʻzMTDP ) is a political party in Uzbekistan . It is one of the four parliamentary parties that are all considered pro-government.

history

The party was founded in 1995 in Uzbekistan, which has been independent since 1991. In 2008, it merged with the Fidokorlar party, which had previously also been represented as an independent party in the parliament of Uzbekistan.

Positions

The OMTDP is considered conservative . The party seeks to strengthen national identity and maintain Uzbek traditions. In terms of economic policy, the Democratic Party of National Revival is committed to strengthening Uzbek companies and promoting handicrafts and family entrepreneurship. The party also advocates promoting tourism in Uzbekistan, which is seen as an opportunity to showcase Uzbek culture. In terms of foreign policy, preserving national independence and self-reliance is the OMTDP's top priority.

Since a real opposition is not allowed in Uzbekistan, the UMTDP also supports the incumbent President Mirziyoyev . Compared to his predecessor Islom Karimov , Mirziyoyev is relying on a gradual departure from the politics of repression.

elections

In the parliamentary elections on December 21, 2014, the OMTDP was able to win 36 of the 135 seats and thus increase its share by five seats compared to the previous election in 2010. In the 2019/2020 elections , the party was able to maintain its number of seats.
