Monument to Rosa Araújo

The monument to Rosa Araújo is a memorial to the merchant , journalist and mayor José Gregório Rosa Araújo (1840–1893) in the center of the Portuguese capital Lisbon .

It was built on October 25, 1936 in the green spaces of Avenida da Liberdade . The sculptor Costa Mota created a bronze bust depicting Rosa Araújo. It stands on a stone pedestal about 2 meters high, on which a woman figure - an allegory of the city of Lisbon - thanks her benefactor. The inscription À ROSA ARAÚJO 1936 in the base .
