Dennis Barthel (born March 21, 1996 in Düren - Birkesdorf ) is a German volleyball player .

Career

Barthel began his career in 2008 in the youth of the Düren gymnastics club. In the 2009/10 season he played for the Aachen-Düren-Erkelenz syndicate in the NRW-Liga, U16 and then moved to the Bayer Leverkusen youth team in 2011 . After the 2011/12 season he was signed by the Bundesliga club evivo Düren . At 16, he is the youngest player the club has ever hired. In beach volleyball , he was able to win the West German U17 Championships in 2012 and came fifth at the German Beach Volleyball Youth Championships. In 2013 Dennis Barthel was twice West German runner-up in the hall (U18 and U20).

In 2014 Barthel won the West German U20 Championship with his youth team in the hall without losing a set and thus qualified for the German Championship in Saarbrücken. There he achieved his greatest success so far in a two-day tournament, namely the title of German runner-up for young people under 20 years of age. In beach volleyball, Dennis Barthel was also West German U19 champion in 2014. At the end of the youth area, Dennis Barthel won the West German U20 Championship in the hall in 2015. In the 2014/15 season he reached third place in the Bundesliga and the semifinals in the DVV Cup with the SWD Powervolleys Düren . In the following season he came with the Düren in the playoff quarter-finals ; in the CEV Cup , the team also made it to the quarter-finals. In the 2016/17 season , Barthel reached third place in the championship with the SWD Powervolleys. Then he announced the end of his professional career in order to concentrate on his studies. He only plays in the amateur team at Düren TV.

Private

In the summer of 2015, Dennis Barthel passed the business diploma at the vocational college of the commercial schools in the Düren district. Since then he has been studying economics at the University of Hagen.
