Denso (Leverkusen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Denso GmbH is a family business in Leverkusen .

The company develops, produces and sells products for corrosion protection (including pipelines ) as well as for road, track and civil engineering.

It was founded in 1922 as Chemieprodukte GmbH in Berlin. The company's name was not changed to Denso Chemie GmbH until 1966. In 1927 the chemist Paul Schade developed the Denso bandage , a plastic bandage for protecting pipelines from corrosion. This groundbreaking invention was patented in 1929 ( German Reich patent no. 482374). In the same year, Denso was registered as a trademark. The word denso is derived from Latin and means "close up".

Another focus of the company's activities in the 1930s and 1940s was the production of bitumen compounds for sealing joints in road and sewer construction and the production of paints and varnishes.

After the war-related destruction of the factories in Berlin, Duisburg and Warsaw, the company began again in 1946, initially in Hamburg. In 1950 the company was relocated to Leverkusen.

With the new and further development of products for corrosion protection, the insulation of pipelines and the renovation of roads and tracks, the business activities could be expanded considerably. The Denso group of companies, combined in the Denso Holding GmbH & Co., today comprises a number of companies and holdings in Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Switzerland.

In 2012 the managing directors Max Wedekind and Thomas Kaiser were named Leverkusen Entrepreneur of the Year,
