Depot II from Kosmonosy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Custodian II of Kosmonosy (also hoard II from Kosmonosy ) is a hoard of Early Bronze Age Unetice culture of Kosmonosy in Středočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the Regional Museum in Mladá Boleslav .

Find history

The depot was first mentioned in 1921. The exact time and circumstances of the find are unknown.

Another depot is known from Kosmonosy , but it dates to the late Bronze Age.

composition

The depot consists of eight bronze objects : two chains, two high and two low ribbed arm cuffs, and two fragments of ridge hatchets . The first chain consists of 19 rings cast into one another. These have an angular cross-section. Their diameter varies between 20 mm and 26 mm. The total length of the chain is 35 cm. The second chain originally consisted of 28 barrel-shaped bronze beads with a length between 5 mm and 6 mm, six amber beads in four different shapes with a diameter between 7 mm and 13 mm and a pendant made of white metal in the shape of a shell, a piece of which has broken off . The amber pearls are lost. The arm cuffs are two pairs. The low cuffs are both broken recently. Only the front part of one of the axes has survived. The neck had already broken off in prehistoric times and the broken edge had been reworked into a surface. Only the neck of the second ax is preserved. It shows signs of wear, which indicate a (modern?) Use as a hammer.

A fragment of an arm spiral and fragments of the bottom of a ceramic vessel may have belonged to the depot. It is quite possible that the deposit was originally placed in a vessel. In any case, the objects had been sorted, because prints on the patina show that the arm cuffs had been nested.
