Depot Battalion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The depot battalion was part of an infantry regiment . It included the non-mobile part of the infantry and was responsible for the preparation of the replacement team in times of war, for the weapons exercises of the vacationers and for the maintenance of the supplies.

The battalions were established in the Kingdom of Prussia as early as 1788, but they also existed in other armies.
