Geriatric depression scale

The Geriatric Depression Scale ( GDS ), also known as the Yesavage depression test , is an internationally widespread assessment instrument developed by JA Yesavage in the mid-1980s which, with the help of a questionnaire to be filled out by the patient as part of the geriatric assessment , provides indications of any age- related depression or depressive mood . The questionnaire usually contains 15 questions and is suitable for healthy, medically ill and mild to moderately cognitively impaired elderly people.
