Dequalification

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dequalification describes the loss or devaluation of professional abilities and skills ( qualification ).

Dequalification occurs when an employed person has to carry out work that is below his qualification, does not challenge him or is not related to his job. This is ultimately accompanied by the loss of the status as a recognized specialist and often also lower wages.

Unemployed people in particular often lose valuable skills and abilities. Due to the non-employment, the further training is almost always completely canceled. Constant technical progress also bypasses the unemployed. As a result, work motivation and the effort to find a job suffer. The job search process is made even more difficult. Dequalification is one of the causes of long-term unemployment and is directly related to the phenomenon of hysteresis .
