Der Adler was an Austrian daily newspaper that appeared irregularly for the first time in January 1838 and the last time in December 1843 in Vienna .

The eagle came out on weekdays, there have been a total of 305 issues over the years. The publisher and editor-in-chief was the geographer and writer Anton Johann Gross-Hoffinger . In the course of time Der Adler carried various titles, namely general world and national chronicles or entertainment paper, literary and art newspaper for the Austrian states and from January 1843 AJ Groß-Hoffinger's magazine . As a continuation, Gross-Hoffinger published the newspaper Vindobona from 1844 , which however had to be discontinued in May of the same year due to lack of success.
