Knasterbax

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The robber Knasterbax is a book character by Werner Schrader . He was driven from his parents' house many years ago by a huge fire and a huge shootout. On his escape his suit got holes and tears and he walked so far that he couldn't understand the language of the people where he came to rest. Because of his clothes and his foreign language nobody gave him anything to eat, so that Knasterbax became a robber in order not to starve to death. In his new home, the robber Knasterbax had a doppelganger who was so similar to him as if he were his twin brother. This doppelganger was the policeman Siebenschütz, who as a police officer represents a constant danger to the robber.

Robber story with a difference

In contrast to the much better known stories of the robber Hotzenplotz by Otfried Preußler , a positive figure plays in the robber stories by Werner Schrader Knasterbax who begins to steal its food against its will. However, he never steals more than is necessary for a meal. Werner Schrader plays in the stories with the external similarity of the two main actors, who at the same time could not be more dissimilar professionally. Knasterbax has to play a policeman in the meantime, which brings him some sympathy and professional success, but seems too strenuous in the long run.
