The Dust Ocean (English original title Involution Ocean ) is the first novel by the American science fiction writer Bruce Sterling . It first appeared in 1977.
content
The novel is about a journey through an ocean of dust. This ocean is located in a huge impact crater and represents the only habitable zone on the surface of its planet. Important topics are drugs and a tragic, physically painful love affair.
interpretation
The novel seems to be strongly influenced by Frank Herbert's Dune and especially Herman Melville's Moby-Dick .
