The Day of Resurrection (Original title: Fukkatsu no hi ) is a science fiction novel by the Japanese author Sakyō Komatsu from 1964.

action

In a plane crash, a virus developed by the US military is released that destroys all of humanity within a few months. Only a small group of researchers in Antarctica survived the disaster because the virus behaves passively at extremely low temperatures. But the danger is not over yet because the US nuclear arsenal has been programmed for automatic self-defense by a mad general and is likely to be triggered by an earthquake soon to come. If this happens and the Soviet Union is attacked, a massive counter-attack would automatically follow, which would also hit the Antarctic. Therefore, a Japanese seismologist decides to travel to Washington to prevent the disaster.

The day of the resurrection was very successful in Japan and has also been translated into other languages. The novel was published in German by Heyne Verlag .
