history

On March 20, 1809, a test sheet was published, the only surviving copy of which was lost in the Vienna Palace of Justice fire in 1927 . This sample sheet was published either under the title Der Österreichische Wanderer or Der Österreichische Wanderer . From April to May 1809 two more test sheets and an edition with the number three appeared, all under the title Der Wanderer and the sub-title Ein Volksblatt . Another publication prevented the French troops marching into Vienna . Der Wanderer appeared regularly from January 1, 1814, with an interruption from October to November 1848. The last edition was published on August 15, 1873. In 1818, the Wanderer ran the sub-titles Unterhaltungsblatt and Volkszeitung , from 1837 in the field of art and science, industry and trade . It was published daily until 1836, six times a week until 1849, and then even twice a day. From 1816 to 1817 it contained the Lügen newspaper as a supplement . From June 1848 to October of the same year the newspaper was called the Democrat , with the sub-title New Episode of the Wanderer .
