The young Nami Matsuo has no plans for her future. She is just in her final year of high school and has to decide what to do later in life. She was born a sorceress, but since she has no talent for magic, she hates sorcery and would prefer nothing more to do with it. However, her father sees it differently and keeps telling her to become a sorceress after graduation. Anyone who has not started training as a magician after their nineteenth birthday must renounce sorcery and no longer use their skills for the rest of their life.

When Nami is pursuing her hobby, photography, she meets a motorcyclist who is racing in her direction and whom she then evades. He has an accident and blames her. Nami tries to use magic to repair the damage to the motorcycle, but it goes wrong.

On the next day of school, she is elected by her class as the new class representative, which nobody really wants to become in the last year, as this task means less time for the exams and additional school activities.

The next day, class begins with the teacher telling the whole class that a new student is coming into their class. Nami recognizes in him, Ryutaro Tominaga, the motorcyclist. When Ryutaro is photographed, he freaks out and even becomes violent.
