The little polar bear (song)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Little Polar Bear is a song that was recorded in 1951 and released on a shellac record.

The melody was composed by Alex Rolf Ander . It was only in 2013 that it became publicly known that Ander is a pseudonym of the composer Rolf Alexander Wilhelm (1927–2013). The text is by Fred Rauch (1909–1997). Horst Wende plays the orchestra with his small dance line-up and the soloists Horst Wende on the accordion and Gerhard Gregor on the Hammond organ. The Cyprys sing with a children's choir.

It starts with the lines: Far from the north, a little bear came white from head to bottom ... The polar bear looks around the whole city. Eventually he also visits the zoo, where he is locked in a zoo cage by a guard. His complaints are presented as justified, but remain unsuccessful, and the song ends with the words: If such a little bear comes from the north, he may not go for a stroll in the zoo

The original version of the song was also released on CD in 2003.
