The little day

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The little day is originally a story by Wolfram Eicke . Together with Rolf Zuckowski and Hans Niehaus , this resulted in a children's musical , not just for children. The first performance of the musical was on November 30, 2002 in the theater of Lutherstadt Wittenberg.

action

The days live behind the stars , which are holes in the sky. They are bright beings of light. Every day one of them comes down to earth. This is only allowed once per day. On earth they experience a wide variety of things, war, peace, inventions, etc. The "little day" would like to finally go down and become a very special day, because only the very special days are allowed to sit in the front row of the evening gathering of days . But his visit to Earth is only scheduled for April 23 (in the original case of Eicke it is February 23) of the following year. While he spends the days wandering in the kingdom of light, he meets the “mysterious day”. Although he sits in the front row, he cannot decide whether it was a good or a bad day, since the lens was invented on his day, to which people owe many excellent inventions, but also that of the rifle scope, with which the Kill people.

He tries to explain to the “little day” that it is not important to be in the front row, but that it is only important to be yourself.

Finally, after a long wait, the “little day” is allowed to travel through a starry hole to the world of the people.

When he arrives at the bottom, he first meets a family who are just moving. There are difficulties with this, because construction workers suddenly come who want to block the street exactly where the furniture is to be picked up and only become aware that they are digging in the wrong place through the interference of a neighbor. While watching the move, he learns that the two siblings in the family like to play the piano . But no piano can be played in the new apartment. The siblings manage to persuade the landlord to be allowed to practice the piano in the apartment despite the ban. The "little day" sees people waiting at a bus stop complaining about the bad weather, so he asks the sun to shine a little so that people become happier. The next thing he sees is a school and notices that one of the children has a birthday on his day and is given a dog. He is very happy that this child is happy. He notices that the children at school imagine that the animals suddenly have to go to school in their place and have a lot of fun. He also sees many other things, such as two old people who happen to see each other again after 50 years, a son and his father who get along well or a couple who are in love romping around in the park. And he is always happy when he sees that people are happy on his day. In the afternoon he meets a family who are having a picnic and just spending the day in harmony . In the evening there is another concert that he would like to take part in, but the “little day” has to go back to the kingdom of light.

He is totally enthusiastic and tells his experiences in the big festive round. Unfortunately, the other days don't think it was a great day because nothing special happened. From now on he has to sit in the back row at the feast. The "little day" is very sad and incomprehensible, even the attempts of the "mysterious day" to cheer it up do not help.

One year passes until the next April 23rd.

When the day responsible for it comes back from his trip, he tells of great festivals all over the world and that people would celebrate April 23rd with dances and songs. The other days are full of admiration for the narrator, until he explains that he is not the trigger for the festivities, but that people are celebrating because nothing bad happened on earth on April 23 last year, no wars , no disasters, no famines. It was the day of peace and reconciliation.

In retrospect, the “little day” turned out to be something very special.

From now on he will be treated with great respect by the other days and of course he can now sit in the front row at the evening gatherings.
