The wily raven is a fairy tale . It is in Ludwig Bechstein's New German Book of Fairy Tales at position 41 and comes from Antonius von Pforr's The Book of Examples of the Wise Men .

The eagles find the wounded raven who pretends to be the only one who wanted peace with them. The eagle king consults his councilors. The first wants to kill the raven, the second wants to spare him, the third listen to him, for which he tells a story.

origin

The story serves as the prelude to the following No. 42 The Thief and the Devil and, like the preceding ones, comes from Antonius von Pforr's The Book of Examples of the Ancient Wise Men , a translation of the Indian Panchatantra .
