The transition to Abbey Island

The tidal islands of Abbey and Lambs Island and some small offshore islands can be reached on foot at low tide . The ruins of the Derrynane Abbey are located on Abbey Island . Inside the park is a stately home where Daniel O'Connell (1775–1847) lived, the Derrynane House ( Irish Teach Dhoire Fhíonáin ). The building now houses its museum. The park is located on the wild and romantic section of the Ring of Kerry south of Waterville .
