Descendants of the Sun (also known as Sons of the Sun ) is a South Korean television series from 2016. It opened on KBS2 on February 24 and aired on Thursdays and Wednesdays.
The series was pre-produced. Typically, production work in South Korea is still ongoing while the first episodes are being broadcast. The high production budget of eleven million US dollars was also exceptional. Four million US dollars of this was borne by the Chinese streaming provider iQiyi (subsidiary of Baidu ). In return, the company received the exclusive rights to broadcast the series in China. The series started in South Korea and China at the same time and broke all records. The series has already been exported to 32 countries.
