Song Joong-ki (born September 19, 1985 in Daejeon ) is a South Korean actor and presenter . He achieved fame with the Korean television dramas Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Deep Rooted Tree , as a presenter of the music show Music Bank and as a participant in the variety show Running Man .

Life

Song Joong-ki attended Daejeon St. Mary Elementary School, Hanbat Middle School, and Antarctic Former High School . He graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in business administration .

His debut took place in 2008 with a role in the film Frozen Flower , after which he was from August 7, 2009 to November 19, 2010 presenter of the music show Music Bank on the television station KBS . In 2010 he played the role of Goo Yong-ha in the historical drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal , which deals with his alma mater . He also took on the role of King Sejong in Deep Rooted Tree 2011. From 2010 to 2011 he was also a regular participant in the Show Running Man .

In March 2012, Song was appointed a volunteer officer in the Yongsan District Tax Office ( Seoul ) for one day on the occasion of the 46th Korean Taxpayers Day. In June it was announced that Song will co-star with Running Man co-star Lee Kwang-soo as Kang Ma-roo on Nice Guy, which airs in August 2012. Song also landed the lead role in A Werewolf Boy , which was shown at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival 2012.

On August 27, 2013, Song began to do his military service in Chuncheon , which lasted until May 26, 2015.

Song made his TV series comeback in 2016 in Descendants of the Sun alongside Song Hye-kyo . On July 5, 2017, he and Song Hye-kyo, his film partner from Descendants of the Sun, announced their engagement through their agencies after much speculation about a relationship. They got married in October 2017. However, they got divorced in July 2019.

Song's next project is the science fiction film Space Sweepers , directed by Jo Sung-hee , in which Song will star alongside Kim Tae-ri . The publication is planned for 2020.
